Project Description

My fascination for trees started during my childhood and kept on going when I became a photo student and discovered the anatomy of the giant trees known as Ficus macrophylla, that can be found not only in Seville, but in other places in the city and other cities of Andalucia, like Cádiz. They are tropical trees and come originally from Australia, but due to the clima and humidity they adapted very well to Andalusian ground.

Their architecture, roots and networks are simply amazing. Sometimes I wonder when their roots start and end and some of their hanging arms seem to be like alien eggs…

Trees are giant channels, temples of life of pilars that connect Earth with the Sky and so with the Universe. Their textures, colors, forms… Their constant will to grow and adapt to every season, to remain, to breathe and share oxygen… Priceless creatures to respect, admire and protect they are.

I´ve been collecting pictures of Ficus macrophylla and also many others trees in different locations. The idea is to create a big art project about “Roots” combining photography with other techniques and explore possibilities of image interpretation and experimentation with concepts and techniques.

This first gallery of this “growing” project is dedicated to Ficus macrophylla. Feel free to connect with these roots and breath oxygen!
