Since January, I´m employed by NTNU University Library (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and Gunnerus branch, to develop illustrations, graphics and art-related products for their project MUBIL, a digital laboratory.

Since the second half of January, I´m also actively participating in a semester course at “Art and common space” at the Academy of Fine Arts of Trondheim (KIT), working on a project and sharing very interesting ideas and concepts together with creative students of the Art Academy and the Architecture Academy. The project -guide book of Trondheim- is getting in shape and will be displayed in an exhibition at the Art Academy later this year.

In February I had my first solo exhibition with more than 20 drawings and paintings “The Rebirth”, at Galleri Artnest, Trondheim. You can check the gallery “The Rebirth with FancyPants” and see the documentary pictures taken by Monica Storvøl during the bodypainting of FancyPants for the opening and vernissage. Check also the pictures taken by Paula Lloveras. The video of the acro-performance will be uploaded soon!

At the beginning of March I had the second solo exhibition of the year, with part of my ongoing project “Innbyggerne av Nidarosdomen”, being displayed at the Public Library of Trondheim. You can see pictures from the exhibition here.

A week ago I had the chance to be part of North Cultitude 62’63′ at Atelier Ilsvika, presented by the swedish artist Andreas Brännlund. North Cultitude 62’63′´s vision is to increase cooperation in the latitudes 62 and 63 with art and cultural projects. I´ve attended seminars and workshops and documented them for Atelier Ilsvika and had a bodypaint performance project together with FancyPants. Thanks to the teamwork for their invitation, inspiration and time, and to all participants for coming. You can see the gallery sets on North Cultitude 62’63′ on Flickr.

Now I´m busy working in the previously mentioned projects, plus some commissions and art production for contests and other projects, like Trondheim Open 2012.

I´m still active participating with illustrations for Filosofisk Supplement, published by the University of Oslo. Their last number “Technology” published 5 images and more were recently sent for their next number “Subject and substance”. A new gallery with images published in this magazine will be uploaded very soon!

… I forgot to mention that the photos from the serie “The Black Death” sent to Black+White Photography Magazine last December, won the 2th price at The Imagery Warehouse. The images were published in their 1th issue of 2012 last January.

A week ago I received news from Wilmington N.C. concerning the opening reception of “Blue and Velvety” exhibit at The Projekte gallery, where I participated with 6 illustrations printed on A3 from my project “Watching David Lynch”. They sent me visual memories from the exhibition, which received some good press that I wanted to pass along to you, as well. Check out the links below to read them.

For all of you following the development of “Watching David Lynch”, I´m waiting to get the ISBN code soon while looking for a publisher. All I can tell you is that this book will be published in 2012 even if self-published! It will contain documentation from “The Lynch Room” at Trondheim Open Art Festival 2011.

Today is the official opening of the X-mass exhibit at Galleri Artnest (Trondheim, Norway), in which I´m participating, together with other talented artists, with 4 original drawings for sale.

Galleri Artnest has offered me to do an individual exhibition of pencil drawings in february 2012. It means that I´ll produce more drawings for the serie “Rebirth”, based on a fantastic and unforgettable collaboration with my friend, the catalonian photographer Raquel García. Concerning this exhibition, my favorite collection of pencil drawings-portraits will be also displayed and for sale, and a new body painting project-dance with FancyPants is also planned for the opening-day. More information TBA.

In the last blog I announced that I finished the artwork and sigils for The Scorpion God: Forbidden Wisdom of Belial, third volume of the Books of the Trident of Witchcraft, written by Mark A. Smith.

This has been my third collaboration with the writer, closing my first illustrated book trilogy, a real challenge both artistically and spiritually.

The Scorpion God: Forbidden Wisdom of Belial will be released in one strictly limited edition of 999 standard copies and 73 deluxe copies. All copies are hand numbered by the author.

It´s been a month since Trondheim Open Art Festival. October has been productive and exhausting!

Two biggest commission projects are finally done!
One of them is the artwork for the last publication of Fall of Man “Threshold”, including full page illustrations and half page headers. For followers of the LHP, you can check the presentation and pre-order your copy if interested: Fall of Man – Threshold
An interview with Namtaru Creations is also featured on the section “Contemplate”.
The second is the artwork for the third volume of the Trident of Witchcraft, to be released in 2012. It includes 12 full fage illustrations and more than 100 sigils and seals. You can check more information about the book and pre-order your copy here: Primal Craft – Forthcoming

Concerning band artwork commissions, I´m glad to announce that the cover artwork for Altar of Sin, Redimoni, Andhord and Kevlar Skin are done! Artwork layouts nearly finished and to be displayed soon! And now available to download as a PDF, the first and not last collaboration with the talented artist Andréa Nebel (Nebelhexe, Hagalaz Runedance, Aghast…), the short graphic novel “Behind the mirror”

And concerning exhibitions…
I´ve been promoted as artist of the month at Pias Café in Trondheim with an exhibition of oil paintings that will stay until january 12th 2012. The local newspaper Adresseavissen announced it in the header of their Utguiden section as “Spansk på Pias”. Such a nice title! Event on Facebook

The new theme for the photo exhibition at Café Choco Boco Bakklandet is “Fra Nordland”, displaying photos from past exhibitions I have presented in Seville and Barcelona and also new ones.

My participation in the first edition of this event has opened many new doors to develop new artworks,  try new techniques and experience new art forms, as installations, full body painting and video performance. I want to thank to the organization of this event, to all the people who attended it and experienced 36 hours of interrupted art in all its forms, and to all the people who visited us at our studio at Marienborg Kunstnerverksteder.

To all the ones that became part of my Lynch room by visiting it, thanks! It has been an experience sharing such an intense work with all of you and without your support, interest and attention it wont continue growing as it does.

I also want to dedicate this post to the amazing dancers behind fancypants. They have proved to me their fidelity and they gave me unconditional trust after 2 and half hours working with body painting in a cold room getting crowed by curious visitors.

This has been definitely an unforgettable experience for us, in which I discovered new horizons for future projects with them.

I will keep you informed about current projects and other portfolio news in the next post.

Since September started I became terribly busy and I haven´t got time to work more on this website and personalize it a bit more.

Clients and projects come always first and there is plenty to do during the next months with commissions and other projects.

Trondheim Open is the next big project in which I´m spending the rest of my time and energy after work. There is plenty to do at our common space at the studio, and for my own individual exhibition in which “Watching David Lynch” will be presented with images, installations and more.

Five years of hard work, knowledge and dedication to my artistic existence. During these five years my perceptions and visualizations have changed a lot. One of my goals with this new website is to show you the development of my skills, the increased diversity of my work.

This is a website with a smaller selection of images than the previous one. I tried to make the best selection of images from my portfolio categories which you can see on the portfolio page. I still feel like I have too many images, but there are many more to come… This is what creativity is all about, in order to grow you need to let things go and these new things will be even better.

Feel free to share your comments and thoughts on this website (blog, portfolio, images…) and thanks for being there, being supportive and spread the word of Namtaru’s art. This couldn’t be possible without the incredible work and patience of Trollsyn.

Ongoing projects

I’ve been quite busy since the last update (usual thing) and wanted this new website to be ready before telling you about my ongoing projects.

Since summer I’ve been working with illustrations for next publication of Fall of Man, the artwork for the next album of Redimoni, a new catalogue for Barevny, private commissions with photography and drawing and more.

Currently I’m still working for  these clients and got new projects for this fall, like the cover artwork for Altars of Sin, advertisement for Modern Art Gallery, personal projects and other ideas under development.

Right now I’m working with a very exciting photo project for NTNUI Dans. More info coming soon!

I am very glad to announce that after 5 years of work and dedication, my project “Watching David Lynch” is finally ready to be published. A week ago I got the authorization from David Lynch and his manager from Asymmetrical Productions to go ahead with the book and find a publisher. It started as a hard project exam for my graduation as illustrator and has grown up until today, becoming a child for me. So, is time to share this piece of living art with you and find the right editorial for “Watching David Lynch”.

I will keep you posted as soon as I have news to share about this.

Besides this, the exhibition “Fra Nordland” at the Scandinavian Club of Barcelona will continue until the end of June.
Barcelona TV (Btv) did an interview with me (in norwegian) for a featured spot in their weekly cultural update. You can see it here.
“Fra Norldland” will be exposed during july and august at the Bar Solé. Special thanks to my dear friend Raquel García (RKF Photography) for taking care of it while I am far away.

The photo exhibition “Maderas” at Kafé Choco Boco Bakklandet will end next week being overlapped by my new photo exhibition “Fra Madeira”.
“Fra Madeira” shows different visual memories from a trip I did to those amazing island, full of hidden and magical corners, valleys and exotic tastes and colors.
I´d like to dedicate this exhibition to the very good friend whom I shared the trip with. Wherever you are I hope you are well and keep doing amazing arts MI-.

Concerning projects and commissions, busy days ahead with several clients and very diverse artworks.
Some of them will be shown on the upcoming new Namtaru Creations site.

Now is time to get back to work!

And then, I’m glad to announce that I’m leaving to Barcelona asap to open a second chapter for my photography collection “Fra Nordland” with an exhibition at the Scandinavian Club of Barcelona. For all of you interested, the exhibition will start on monday 2th may at 19:00h.

Concerning commissions and other related works, as usual, I’m working with several clients, commission projects, contests, art workshops, personal projects and more.

Between some of these projects is the redesign of Namtaru Creations. After five years spreading the plagues and the energy to keep creating and getting more and more skilled, it’s time to present a new site that can divide the different chapters in which I separate the creative universe. From a more serious business side, to an spiritual development and demanded artworks, I feel that Namtaru Creations is traveling beyond without limits concerning creative possibilites.
